Musee

Masterpieces of Art / Musée de Grenoble
The Museum of Grenoble is one of the most prestigious museums in France, whether for its collections of art or for its modern and contemporary exhibitions.
Your visit will bring you to Flemish, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, and French paintings (from the 13th century to the 18th century), including the Saint Gregoire of Rubens, the Saint Jérôme de la Tour, Zurbaran... The 19th century is illustrated by an exceptional display from the New-Classicism to Gauguin, while the 20th century collections place the Grenoble Museum in first place amongst other European museums.

Vizille

The museum of the French Revolution
In housing the Estates General of the Dauphiné in 1788, the chateau of Vizille became the heater of pre-Revolutionary events. The national museum dedicated to the event recounts the role that Grenoble and the Dauphiné played in the pivotal period. After a visit, enjoy a relaxing moment in the estates « remarkable garden » and the animal park.

correrie

The museum of la Grande Chartreuse
Settled in « La Correrie », the museum is at the heart of a small valley labelled « Forêt d’exception », just 2 km from the famous monastery founded by St Bruno in 1084.
It was an idea of the monks themselves, and it allows you to better understand the mystery of the Carthusian Order, its 900 year history, the monks' way of life and more, around a true cloister and old cells. Documents, everyday objects as well as films and audiovisuals material all enable you to discover the Monastery as if you were there and to share in the faith and emotion of today's monks.
The museum provides visitors with a wealth of insights into the monks' human and spiritual adventure.

The historical center and the panoramic view from the Bastille's site
The stroll in the old town offers a big trip in the fabulous history of Grenoble from 2000 years old. A town where the knight Bayard lived as well as the duke of Lesdiguières, Aristide Bergès, Marie Reynoard… Historical monuments and old dwellings testify it, such as the old parliament palace, the cathedral or else the house of Stendhal. While taking the famous “bubble” of the cable car built in 1934, within a few minutes, you will access to the fortified site of “La Bastille”, on the Chartreuse mountain range’s first foothills. Our guide takes you up to the Bastille to admire the beautiful panorama stretching from the Vercors to the Obiou Mountains and from the Belledonne range to the Mont-Blanc. You’ll also discover the Bastille fortifications, completed in 1840.
